In humans, ivermectin does have some potential for preventing or treating infections that are spread by mites and other bugs, including scabies and some parasitic infections. However, we don’t know much about how well it actually works in humans and if it is effective enough to justify its side effects. If you are suffering from an infestation that has not been properly treated by your doctor (or properly diagnosed), be careful when buying ivermectin over-the-counter online. We do not recommend taking ivermectin yourself because of these uncertainties and side effects. Discuss all options with your physician before taking any medicine—including ivermectin—that isn’t prescribed to you directly.
